Professional guidance for museum decolonisation.

Decolonial Focus offers professional guidance for museums around decolonial and anti-racist practice through full-day workshops, strategy analysis and development, and in-house project facilitation.

Champions of co-curation and community participation, we bring a nuanced understanding of how Britain’s colonial past has shaped the museum sector, from collections acquisition and interpretation, to organisational structures, and museum strategy.

Bringing innovative thinking and researched-informed practice, Decolonial Focus is driven by social justice and a commitment to making museums welcoming, equitable, and representative spaces. We co-developed Decolonial Focus to be a diplomatic, non-judgemental, yet radical consultancy for museums who are looking to embed real, anti-racist change.

Collectively, we have over 10 years experience in the museum sector, both having developed their passion for decolonisation through working with regimental museum collections. With a strong track record of decolonial project development and PhD-level evaluation, we are motivated by making museums more inclusive, welcoming, and accessible spaces through decolonial practice.
